M: There was a party for Mary.
W: When was it?
M: It was on the 20th at 8:00 p. m.
W: Well, you have cleaned out the refrigerator this time. Nothing is left.
M: Oh, yes. I had a lot of work all day and I had only a small lunch at the office.
M: I like to put the audience at ease when I finish my speech, so I usually tell a joke.
W: Yes, you put them at ease with a joke, and they put you at ease by laughing.
M: I looked through the newly-published newspaper you talked about just now.
W: Did you read the edition about ball games?
M: No. I only read the sports news about track and field.
W: Would you like to buy this suit, sir?
M: Well. I like the color and the material. The size is all right, too.
W: Yes, it fits you perfectly.
M: But I'm afraid the price is a little more than I can afford. Perhaps I can look at something cheaper.
W: Tomorrow is Mike’s birthday. I have just received the invitation to his party. Did Mike invite you, too?
M: Yes. I received his invitation this morning. But he didn't tell me what time the party will begin.
W: I’ll ring him up and ask him about it. How will you go to his party?
M: I’ll drive to his party after work. Would you like to take my car there?
W: I would be glad to. Thank you.
W: Good morning, Blackwood Sports Club. Can I help you?
M: Yes, I would like to order a set of golf clubs, please. Can you deliver them to my house?
W: Yes, certainly. Just let me get the order form here and I’ll take down your information. Can I have your name please?
M: Bill White.
W: And your membership number?
M: It's G, 844-9192.
W: Thank you. Now where would you like the golf clubs delivered?
M: 89 Sea Road, Swansea.
W: And could I get your email address and phone number please?
M: My email address is bwhite@ uk. net. My office number is 0782-403583 and you can reach me at home at 0782-624989.
W: 0782-624989. Thank you.
M: There are millions of web pages on the net. How do I find what I’m looking for?
W: Use a search engine like Baidu and Google.
M: How does it work?
W: You enter the name or topic you are interested in and ask the search engine to find pages about your topic.
M: How do I use a search engine?
W: Let me tell you step by step.
W: At first, we can go to the website address and then type the keywords.
M: Then it will search automatically?
W: Yes, it will show a lot of websites with the keywords.
M: If I find the website I need, what should I do?
W: That's easy, click the website, and you can enter.
M: Thank you for your help!
M: What are you doing, Mum?
W: I'm planting cabbage.
M: What's that in your hand?
W: Cabbage seed. You see, I put some soil in the box, sow the seed carefully like this, and then cover it with more soil. I'll keep the box in the shade so that the sun doesn't burn the little plants.
M: Is that all?
W: No. Later, in a few weeks' time I’ll put the little plants in the earth. Then I’ll water them to stop the soil from getting too dry. Several weeks after that, I will plant them in rows in the field.
M: Do you have to feed plants like you feed chickens? Or do they grow up by themselves?
W: In fact they grow better if you feed them. When the plants are in the ground I’ll put some powder on the soil. The powder is made from fish, blood and bones. It'l1 make the cabbage plants grow big and strong.
M: Like me!
The climate of the Earth is always changing. In the past it has changed as a result of natural causes. Nowadays, however, the term, climate change, has some new meanings. The changes are thought to be mainly due to human behavior rather than due to natural changes in the atmosphere.
The greenhouse effect is very important when we talk about climate change. As it has something to do with the gases which keep the Earth warm. The extra greenhouse gases are released by humans. These gases are believed to be the most threatening.
The term "Greenhouse Effect" is commonly used to describe the increase in the Earth's average temperature that has been recorded over the past 100 years. However, without the "natural greenhouse effect", life on Earth would be very different than what we see today.
